Arunachal’s interests will be protected at any cost: Rijiju
ITANAGAR, Sep 24: Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju assured All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) that the Centre will protect the interests of people of Arunachal Pradesh at any cost.
"There will be no lapse on the part of the Union Government with regards to Arunachal Pradesh and its interests would be protected at any cost," Rijiju said, when an AAPSU team led by its president Kamta Lapung and Chairman of Core Committee on Chakma-Hajong refugee issue Gumjum Haider called on him at his official residence at New Delhi on Saturday regarding the vexed refugee issue.
The union MoS made it clear that the union government was working for the interest of the North East region and the state of Arunachal Pradesh holds a prime importance for the present union government, AAPSU informed in a release.
While making serious deliberations about the Chakma-Hajong issue, Gumjum opined that the refugees who are illegally settled in the state cannot be treated at par with the indigenous tribal populace of the state.
He also expressed his displeasure about the alleged eagerness and prompt activism displayed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in getting the refugees enrolled as voters.
The AAPSU lauded the Union minister in particular for ensuring safety and security of the North East people in the national capital and other metro cities.
The initiative taken by the union home ministry for creating jobs in the Delhi police for people of North East is highly laudable, the AAPSU said and strongly urged the minister for continuing more such initiatives in other central police force as well.
The AAPSU team also informed that the scheduled hearing at Supreme Court on 23rd August was hugely successful as the apex court has admitted the SLP filed by the state government.
"The lapses committed by the previous state governments need immediate corrective measures as the refugees, if granted citizenship in the state, would be one of the largest tribal groups in the state," the AAPSU release added.
The team was also joined by former AAPSU president Kanu Bagang.
TAH compensation payment begins in Upper Subansiri
DAPORIJO, Sep 24: The much awaited compensation payment to the Trans Arunachal Highway land affected people began on Saturday with the handing over of a cheque of Rs 16,940 only to Tatuk Ligu, ASM, Liruk- Sigum and Lingko villages by DC AK Singh.
This marks the start of first phase of distribution of compensation to TAH land affected people from 1 Km point on Daporijo- Ziro Road to Pegarijo. The Distribution of compensation committee Upper Subansiri District headed by the DC is making the compensation payment to the land affected people of the district after proper spot verification. Pema visits DPMS
ITANAGAR , Sep 24: Chief Minister Pema Khandu made an impromptu visit to the Donyi Polo Mission School for Hearing Impaired (DPMSHI) at Chimpu along with Home Minister Kumar Waii to spend time with the differently-abled school children.
He said the purpose of his visit was to get an understanding of the problems faced by the school and to assure of its well being.
"I had always wanted to meet you all. But due to my busy schedule couldn't visit you earlier," said the Chief Minister and apologized for not been able to pay visit earlier.
Khandu was all praise for former Chief Minister Gegong Apang for dedicating the school to educate the differently-abled children.
"It's because of him that our state's differently-abled children are able to pursue the goal of their dreams," he said.
To meet additional expenses for the school due to its growing student intake and teaching staffs, Khandu announced to add Rs 2 crore to the existing Rs 5 crore corpus funds, which was contributed earlier by former Chief Minister late Dorjee Khandu.
The Chief Minister promised to support the school in every way he could, as he announced a mini-bus for the school and a new common hall, which would be constructed this year. He also asked the school authority to submit the list of procurement required for the school such as drinking water and teaching kits.
Upon his visit to the classrooms and inspection of the teaching devices, the Chief Minister asked the authority to provide students with all latest devices to be used for activities of daily living, learning materials, low vision aids, special mobility aids, various types of hearing aids, educational kits and other assistive devices suitable for the special kids. He promised the support of the state government to meet all these requirements.
Also to meet up the shortage of hostel facilities due to increase in intake, the Chief Minister announced to come up with a new hostel project to be taken within this year.
Khandu appreciated and thanked the school faculties for their dedication and hard work in taking good care of the special kids and assured the children of help from the state government.
The students expressed their joy with the visit of Chief Minister and his kind gesture to celebrate the day with them.
Forum opposes appointment of college teacher as OSD

ITANAGAR, Sep 24: Expressing strong resentment over appointment of professors from government colleges as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Resident Commissioner, Arunachal Bhawan, New Delhi on deputation, the Arunachal Pradesh Colleges' Forum (APCF) has demanded the Minister for Education to immediately cancel the said appointment saying that most of colleges of the state are already facing shortage of teaching faculties.
APCF President, Jamru Mania, during a press conference held in the Press Club here this afternoon claimed that not a single post has been created in six newly established colleges,
namely at Doimukh, Nyapin, Daporijo, Women's College in Lekhi and Basar besides, five polytechnics. 'We have earlier in August submitted a memorandum to the state Minister for Education seeking early creation of posts in the said government colleges but the issue has not been addressed till now,' Mania claimed adding that at a time when all the government colleges of the state are functioning without adequate teaching staff, the appointment of college professors as OSDs in various departments is unacceptable as it adversely affects the students.
The Forum further cited an instance wherein, an Assistant Professor of Dera Natung Government College, who recently applied for being appointed as OSD to the Resident Commissioner, Arunachal Bhawan, Delhi on deputation even though she has not completed her 2-year probation period.
Citing official papers, the Forum stated that the CM himself recommended approval against the Assistant Professor's application. 'When we raised the issue with the Secretary Education on Aug 25 last, he said that since the case has already been approved, it will be restricted to her only and no such case will be entertained in future', it stated and questioned the government's stand on the issue.
Strongly opposing the move, the Forum has further served a 7-day ultimatum to the Education Minister seeking recall of the OSD and for appoint of teaching faculty in the seven government colleges, failing which it has threatened to resort to democratic action.
PR leaders call on CM
ITANAGAR, Sep 24: The Panchayat and public leaders of 59-Longding Pumao Assembly Constituency called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu at CM's Secretariat and apprised him of the poor infrastructure of Pumao Circle Headquarters and many other issues.
The delegation which was accompanied by local MLA of Longding and Parliamentary Secretary Power (Elect) Thangwang Wangham submitted two points memorandum to CM for immediate posting of Circle Officer and infrastructure improvement of Pumao circle Headquarters.
Pumao Circle Headquarters which was inaugurated way back in 1983 is still not fully functional and no staff has been stationed there since its inauguration, reads the memorandum.
The team further apprised the CM that the government's assets like office buildings and government quarters of the circle headquarters are now in shamble and require immediate repairing.
Chief Minister Pema appreciated the fact that Longding district, especially Pumao circle is lagging in infrastructure development and assured to fulfill the demand of the public on priority.
Keh-meh-ha festival celebrated with great zeal
ANINI, Sep 24: Keh-meh-ha festival was also celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm by the people of the Idu Mishmi tribes here.
This year the community is celebrating the festival in one venue for the first time for two whole days.
Hundreds of participants from four districts, Lohit, Anjaw, Lower dibang Valley and Dibang valley are participating in it.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Dairy Development, Veterinary, Animal Husbandary and Sports and Youth Affairs Rajesh Tacho requested the representatives of Mishmi tribes of Lohit , Anjaw and Dibang Valley to relax the marriage norms in order to encourage inter marriage among the Idu, Digaru and Miju Mishmis.
Suraj Tayang, General Secretary CALSOM spoke on ways to improve and maintain a healthy relationship among the three Mishmi tribes. He also encouraged the youths to look at Ita Pulu, Tine Mena and APCS toppers Rome Mele and Bittu Kri as role models and to stay away from opium addiction and other bad habits.
Dibang Valley Deputy commissioner Tamune Miso wished a happy and prosperous Keh Meh Ha to all the Mishmis.
He also praised the spirit of the participants saying that the Incessant rain couldn't dampen the zeal of the participants and thanked them for their participation.
The organizing committee and its chairman Rajiv Mihu thanked ministers Takam Pario and Jomde Kena for their moral and financial support to make the first ever central Keh- meh- ha celebration a successful one.
Ering joins Keh-Meh-Ha festival celebrations at Aohali
PASIGHAT: Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering joined the celebration of the Keh- Meh -Ha festival at picturesque Aohali Village under Mebo Circle in East Siang District on Saturday.
Extending his festival greetings to the people on the festive occasion, Ering lauded the community effort to preserve their traditional customs and heritage which is closely tied to the agricultural cycle, while calling upon the Idu brethren of Aohali in particular and others in general to promote and safeguard their rich cultural heritage for posterity.
Speaking on the development front and also responding to a memorandum submitted on the occasion, Ering announced for sanction of Rs. 7 lakhs for irrigation channel and also Rs. 3 lakhs for boundary wall of Reh-ko (Community Hall) of Aohali Village from his MPLAD fund.
On the occasion, the MP also assured all possible support for the progress and development of Aohali Village.
Advisor to CM Lombo Tayeng, who also is the Local MLA and Chief Patron of the KMHFCC-20 16, greeted the Idu community on the occasion and prayed for peace and prosperity of the community and humanity in general.
East Siang Deputy Commissioner Isha Khosla called upon the community members to encourage the youth of the Aohali to tap the fertile land by taking up organic cultivation as viable economic activity, as there is a huge demand and market for organic and herbal produces. The traditional agricultural practices of the tribal community need to be carried forward, while also incorporating scientific methods. The DC on the occasion also took the opportunity to appeal the village elders to guide the youth to keep away from drugs and alcohol and provide them education for bright future.

Keh-meh-ha is the most important seasonal agricultural festival of Idu Mishmis celebrated since time immemorial. It is festival related to the first seasonal harvesting of crops like paddy and other various edible items starting from the middle part of August - September (Puilapu) every year. The Festival promotes unity and brotherhood and participated by each and everyone in their respective village. The Festival also helps the community to preserve folksongs, folklore and oral literature of the hardworking and artistic Idu Mishmi Community in today's times. DIPROs
PPA says thrilled by home coming of legislators
ITANAGAR, Sep 24: People's Party of Arunachal Pradesh (PPA) said the party is extremely thrilled with the 'second home coming' of its legislators under the leadership of Pema Khandu.
In a party meeting, Chairman of the Central Working Committee of PPA Kamen Ringu, said that the common people need peace and stability and the young Chief Minister is all set deliver everything he can, provided the public, cutting across party affiliations, extend unconditional support towards all his efforts.
He hoped the new PPA-led Government under Chief Minister Pema Khandu will fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people and lead the state towards the path of peace and progress and prosperity.
PPA president Kahfa Bengia said: "With second home coming of our party legislators into the party, the departed soul of our beloved leader Kalikho Pul is sure to rest in peace."
"This Party is fortunate to have a new leader in Pema Khandu who has promised to carry on with the unfulfilled tasks of Lt. Kalikho Pul," the PPA president said, and promised to extend all possible support to Pema through thoughts and deeds.
Secretary General Kaling Jerang said, "The formation of the PPA led government for the second successive time within a very short span of time is nothing sort of historic."
Expensive living in Arunachal !

Arunachalese will agree that almost everything is more expensive in our state compared to neighbouring Assam and other states. The cost of most items is higher by 10-15 %. In certain items, the price difference is almost 50-200 %!
Prices of grocery items like rice, dal, atta etc are almost 10-15 % higher than Assam. Fruits and vegetables are costlier by 15- 40 %. Eggs, Poultry, Fish and meat are also costlier in our state by 15-30 %. One example is mangoes costing 70-80 per kg at Margherita, Jonai or Harmuti costs 100-120 in Arunachal!
Construction items like cement, rods, tin sheets, kitchen items etc are also costlier. Electrical items are also costlier. For major construction work, almost all items are procured from Assam.
Due to the high costs of items in Arunachal Pradesh, many people are resorting to buying items from Assam. It may be seen that many Arunachalese visit the supporting Assam towns like Harmuti, Lakhimpur, Silapathar, Jonai, Balipara, Tinsukia, Naharkatia, Margherita etc during Sundays/ market days.
The only few items cheaper in Arunachal maybe are wood, petrol/diesel and liquor!
Therefore it may be safely concluded that the average cost of living is more in Arunachal by 10-15 %.
Items are costlier in Arunachal due to many factors. The foremost cause for costlier items is transportation cost to this remote corner. The other cause is because we are importing majority of items, with negligible manufacturing/production in the state. Even eggs, fish, poultry, fruits and vegetables are imported from outside.
The other cause maybe is whimsical pricing of items. Retailers routinely charge above MRP quoting less availability and high pricing by distributors. Many people quote higher taxes in Arunachal for the higher prices of most items.
If the economy of the state is poor and average Arunachalese are poorer, then it is logical to have lesser taxes so that prices of items in the state are comparative if not cheaper than Assam. It also follows that if prices of items are comparative, most people will buy items from shops/dealers in Arunachal.
As a result, majority of Arunachal money is being channelized into Assam/other states. Every time Arunachalese buy items from Assam and other states, it helps the economy of those states. You are aware of townships of Tinsukia, Margherita, Naharkatia, Dibrugarh, Jonai, Silapathar, Lakhimpur, Harmuti, Tezpur etc which are booming and expanding on money of Arunachalese!
In order to ensure circulation of Arunachalese money within the state, one way is to re-analyse and revamp the tax regime of the state to make prices comparable with Assam. The other way is to promote and push products of Arunachal Pradesh. For example, there may be a rule for traders to compulsorily procure at least 30-50 % of their sold items from local sources. Most products sold in the state are procured from outside the state. This move will help the local entrepreneurs, farmers and economy of the state.
The state leadership needs to study this aspect of higher price of items in Arunachal and initiate necessary steps for reducing the flow of money from our state to neighbouring states. After all it is our hard earned money!
APCRCC Youth Wing organizes voluntary blood donation camp
ITANAGAR, Sep 24: Sixty units of blood were collected during a voluntary blood donation camp organized by the youth wing of Arunachal Pradesh Christian Revival Church Council on September 24 at Christian Revival Church-A Sector Naharlagun premises.
The camp was organized in collaboration with Tomo Riba State Hospital, Naharlagun and Papum Pare District Christian Revival Church Council Youth Wing.
Over 160 volunteers came forward to donate blood, of them 112 were screened and finally 68 donors were found healthy and eligible to donate blood. The blood units were donated to the Blood Bank of the Hospital.
Dr. Jomnya Ado, DRCHO, Yupia, who attended the programme, encouraged the youth force to come forward for the cause of humanity.
He also explained the importance of donating blood and clarified misconception and myths associated with blood donation. He further informed that selling of blood by professional blood donors is illegal.
He appreciated the initiative of the church organization and expressed hope that more such programmes will be organized in future to meet the blood requirement.
Organizing committee members Domar Bomjen, Tarba Japan, Pei Lalley Camder and Kumar Dakpe who are also the President, Vice-President, General Secretary and Asstt. General Secretary of the APCRCC-Youth Wing respectively and pastor of the host church Evangelist Sorang Tagiam also spoke on the occasion.
TRS Hospital's GDMO Dr. Kento Basar led the Blood Bank unit and paramedical staff in carrying out the screening and collection of bloods.
Deputy Registrar of RGU Dr. David Pertin and Assistant Engineer (APPHB) Tumge Ado witnessed the programme.
Road safety awareness prog. organized
ZIRO, Sep 24: Large number of people representing NGOs besides, students from various schools and district administration took part in a 'Road safety awareness-cum-Road Show Competition 2016' themed 'Safe Driving, Save Lives' organized by the Apatani Ziro Hapoli Tempo Association (AZHTA), a local NGO in collaboration with Lower Subansiri district administration here on Saturday.
The competition which was flagged off by Ziro, APSTS, Station Superintendent at Govt. ME School, Suluya (Old Ziro) culminated at Abotani Hall.
Lower Subansiri SP, Tage Habung in his address emphasized the need to organize more such programmes in future to create awareness among the general public and especially, student community about traffic rules and road safety.
District Transport Officer, Y L Yajum also gave tips on road safety. Stating that over confidence and over speeding were the main causes of road accidents, she appealed to the bikers in particular and motorist in general not to adopt such attitude. She also discouraged use of headphone while driving two wheelers and suggested compulsory use of helmets.
Later, prizes were distributed to the winner group of the road show competition and drawing competition which was conducted earlier among students.
NSS day celebrated
ITANAGAR, Sep 24: The NSS volunteers of Rajiv Gandhi University celebrated the NSS day by organizing a lecture on "Role of Youth in village eco-system management" and also formed an adventure and Mountaineering club in the university.
An environmentalist and anthropologist Joy Dasgupta, who is based at TERI University New Delhi, spoke at length about the prevailing rural socio-economic and cultural dynamics.
He shared that the there is a huge gap in the mindset and the approach of looking at things. Consequently, there are variation in lifestyle and habits, therefore he stressed that the youth ought to sincerely observe and patiently engage with the different rural communities.
He pointed out that the youth, especially the NSS volunteers should quite often visit their adopted villages for having first hand information and understanding the existing socio-economic and cultural systems existing in the villages.
Prof. Tomo Riba, who chaired the programme, also spoke at length on the possibilities of the changes that present youth could usher in the community especially in the rural areas through partnership and engagement.
He also highlighted on drug abuse and increase of alcoholism among the youths which have become a major societal problem. He urged the NSS volunteers to inculcate the philosophy of "think globally and act locally" as practiced by Mahatma Gandhi the father of the nation for bringing perceptible changes in our societies.
An "Adventure and Mountaineering Club" was also formed with Dr. David Pertin, Deputy Registrar (Academic) as Chairman and Gomar Basar, NSS programme officer as the Secretary of the club.
Professor Amitav Mitra, Finance officer and Dr.Vivek Kumar, Assistant professor also attended the NSS day programme and encouraged the students to involve themselves in positive activities and develop their personality through community service along with their regular studies.
Saint Claret College, Ziro, (SCCZ) celebrated the NSS Day on Saturday, inducting the fresh batch of NSS volunteers and flagging off the activities for the 217-strong NSS contingent of the college.
Speaking during then function, Ama Aba Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd. Hage Penji recalled his NSS days in college and underlined the necessity to engage in social service to make the world a better place. He commended SCCZ for winning the best NSS unit of the State award twice, in 2010 and 2014.
Marpi Jilen, a third year English major student, was presented with a certificate and medal for winning the zonal level essay competition organized jointly by Ram Chandra Mission and the United Nations Information Centre for India & Bhutan in 2015.
The day also saw variety of cultural programmes.
On the same day, as part of the social commitment pledged through the NSS, the Junior Claretine Council of the College participated in the 9 km-long Road Safety Awareness Rally organized at Hapoli, winning the first prize of Rs.10,000/- for being the best performing contingent in the rally.
The day was also observed at VKV Nirjuli with a small function. Teacher Ramoni Deori highlighted the objectives of the NSS and students of primary classes performed programme related to environment.
A cleanliness drive of the campus was also carried on this occasion.
At Jawahar Lal Nehru College Pasighat, more than 250 NSS volunteers conducted a mass social service at Lower campus. The roadsides were made garbage free while the jungles were cleared. The compound of JN College auditorium was also cleaned.

ITANAGAR, Sep 24: Gagi Dolum FC beat Gohpur Commando FC 5-2 in the last league level match to secure place in the quarterfinal of the Vishwakarma Football Trophy at KV No 2 playground here on Saturday.
Scorer for Gagi Dolum FC were Karo Dada (2 goal), Dora Aja (1 goal) and Rai Cheke (2 goal) while Toko Tachu and Geli Ayum scored one goal each for Gohpur Commando.
The organizing committee has cancelled the second match.
Other teams, which reached quarterfinals are KK FC, Marcy Sono, Young Generation, Borum United, HSU, Group Boys, VV FC.
First quarterfinal match will be held between KK FC and Marcy Sono FC at 2.30 pm on Sunday while VV FC will be up against Gagi Dolum FC at 3.30 pm in the second quarterfinal match.
Pinky-Yania lose in quarterfinal
ITANAGAR, Sep 24: The pair of Yania Taring and Pinky Karki went down fighting to Mahima Aggarwal and Anura Prabhudesai in the semifinal of Women's Double ending Arunachal's campaign in the Dorjee Khandu All India National Senior Badminton Ranking Tournament on Saturday.
Yania and Pinky lost 21-12, 21-10 to 4th seeded Mahima and Anura in the quarterfinal match that lasted for 20 minutes at Raj Bhawan Badminton Stadium.
The final matches and closing ceremony will be held on Sunday.
Bengia Takam Memorial T-20 Cricket
ITANAGAR, Sep 24: The 20th Bengia Takam Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament will begin at Yazali on September 26.
The opening match will be played between Old Pitapool and Pistana Sports Club while the second match of the day will be held between Potin United and Mai Star XI.
There will be prizes for the winner, runners up, man of the match, man of the tournament, best disciplined team.
Thirteen teams are participating the yearly tournament.
APCC blames Khandu for power crisis
ITANAGAR, Sep 24: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Saturday blamed the newly inducted PPA chief minister Pema Khandu for the current power crisis in Capital, saying denizens of Capital Complex never had to suffer such long blackout before.
APCC in a release questioned CM's silence on the issue. The Congress said, 'It has been observed that few parts of Itanagar are being supplied with electricity while other areas are reeling in darkness. In such situation what would be the condition of students. Every house is facing hardship including businessmen.'
'Government should take up remedial measure soon instead of tall claims,' it further added.
Decennial celebration of RTI Act by APIC
ITANAGAR, Sep 24: Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) will celebrate the 10th years of implementation of Right to Information Act enacted in 2005 by honouring the best RTI activists on October 19.
Central Chief Information Commissioner of India (CIC), Chief Information Commissioners and information Commissioners of North East States will attend the celebration.
Renowned RTI activists, representatives of various NGOs would also attend it.
APIC has invited the interested RTI activists or any individuals to submit their success stories to the Commission on or before October 10 for the selection.
Jamoh visits DDA office
PASIGHAT, Sept.24: Parliamentary Secretary (Agriculture), Arunachal Pradesh, Tatung Jamoh on Saturday visited the office of the Deputy Director Agriculture, East Siang District. In a formal interaction with the Parliamentary Secretary, Y. J. Lego, Deputy Director Agriculture highlighted the various grievances pertaining to the development of agriculture in East Siang District. While highlighting the problems, she informed the dilapidated conditions of the vehicles which is 22 years old and asked for new vehicles. She also highlighted the lack of conference cum training hall, office chambers for ADO's and boundary fencing of the office.
After listening to the various grievances putforth by the officials, the Parliamentary Secretary agreed to look into the matter with outmost important. He further emphasized on cordial working environment and asked the officers to put forward new innovative ideas pertaining to the development of agriculture. Onam celebrated
ITANAGAR, Sep 24: Kerala Kala Samskarika Vedi (KKSV), Itanagar celebrated Onam at Siddhardh Hall here on Saturday.
Minister for Home & RWD Kumar Waii, and Superintending Engineer, PWD Capital Circle Ratu Techi, attended the celebration.
In his inaugural address, Waii stressed the need for preserving the tradition and culture to keep ones identity. He added, celebration like Onam festival creates a sense of oneness and brotherhood.

Education awareness tour conducted
ITANAGAR, Sep 24: Following the poor performance of the Govt. Secondary school of Peging Bote,(Riga) in the last year CBSE result, the Siang District Students Union organized an education and awareness tour at Riga on Sep 19 last.
While addressing a gathering during a meeting held as part of the tour, Siang District Students Union, President in his address described the students as the torch bearers of the nation and said that education play a vital role in shaping them.
ABK Women Wing President, Yalem Burang Taga, East Siang ABK General Secretary-cum-ZPM Nugong Bango, Tajing Tak, Siang district, DDSE, Oduk Tabing were also present as resource persons. Many teachers besides, PRI and school management committee' members also placed their grievances concerning their school before the DDSE like shortage of subject teachers, staff quarter and deplorable condition of school and hostel etc.?
District level monitoring committee meeting held
DAPORIJO, Sept 24: The District Level Monitoring Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Upper Subansiri DC Cum Chairman District Level Monitoring Committee, A K Singh in his office chamber on Friday.
Reviewing the achievement and completion of works under various schemes and projects funded under NEC, SPA, MP& MLALAD's, the DC stressed for proper utilization of fund and physical achievement of the works in time.
He urged that there should be proper coordination between the planning department and works department.
The meeting was attended by all the HODs.
District Planning Officer, S Timba made power point presentation of various schemes and projects funded under NEC, SPA, MPLAD's and MLALAD's.
All other HoDs also made power point presentations on the schemes undertaken by the respective department concern.
Also speaking, District ZPC Togam Leriak called for proper implementation of projects and schemes provided by the govt.
Sigin-I ZPM Tayum Mothu urged the government departments to execute the works with one hundred percent physical achievement. (DIPRO)
Science Congress organized at VKV Roing
ITANAGAR, Sept 24: Siddharth Srivastav and his group from Class X A won the first position in the school level Science Congress 2016 with the theme 'Science Technology & Innovation for Sustainable Development' organized at VKV Roing on Saturday.
Nikita Rai and her group of class IX B bagged second position.
A total of 27 students from class VIII to X had participated in the Science Congress.
PRIs and GBs attend Legal Awareness Camp
JENGGING, Sep 24: In all, 36 Panchayati members and GBs took part in a day-long legal awareness camp conducted by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Yingkiong at Circuit House here on Saturday.
The camp's organizing secretary, Oson Mibang in his inaugural speech, urged participants to attend such important camps and educate themselves.
DLSA Member Secretary and JMFC-cum-Civil Judge, Habung Tangu who was the resource person on the occasion spoke at length about various Acts like Access to Justice for all under Legal Service Authority Act, 1987, Mental Health Act 1987, The Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995.
Resource persons including, advocates Akoying Tekseng, Dubom Tekseng, Oyem Panyang, Kabang Taron, Apang Jongkey and Tapang Tabing covered topics on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, Concept of Sec 125 CrPC, Right to Information Act 2005, Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme 2011, NDPS Act, MV Act, The Assam Frontier (Administration of Justice) Regulation 1945 and Consumer Protection Act 1986.
The camp was followed by interaction with the participants to clarify their doubts. Legal brochures were also distributed to the participants. (DIPRO)
6-day Yoga camp at Koyu concludes

PASIGHAT, Sept 24: A 6-day training camp on Yoga was organized at Koyu village in East Siang recently sponsored by 'Art of Living'.
The Yoga camp was conducted by Yoga teacher of Sri Sri Vidya Mandir Rohit Bori, who demonstrated various yoga postures to the participants. It benefitted more than 50 youth of the area, who practiced yoga regularly during the 8-day camp.
Koyu EAC Starlie Jamoh briefed about the benefits of practicing yoga during the opening ceremony.
Explaining objective of the programme, ASM Pakyor Koyu urged the rural youths to avail benefit of the free training and live a healthy life.
As many as 28 youths suffering from various ailments, like body pain, allergy, gastric problems etc were reportedly got much relief after practicing yoga.
DEO puts emphasis on error free electoral roll revision
ITANAGAR, Sept 24: Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner cum DEO Tai Kaye has instructed all EROs/AEROs for strict implementation of the special Summary revision of Electoral Roll in their jurisdiction with utmost care and devotion. Addressing a meeting on Summary Revision of Electoral Roll at his Conference hall, Yupia on Saturday, the DEO requested all concern to conduct summary revision of Electoral roll in a consolidated way.
Stating that the Election Commission also ordered for error free, clear photo vision, deletion of duplicate enrolment in different Polling stations, he shared his experience during the 1st introduction of Photo Electoral Roll by the Election Commission of India in the state.
M.Taipodia (Jini) ERO (Hq) Yupia presented the time schedule for the special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll with reference to 1st January 2017 as the qualifying date. She further informed the house about the deletion of multiple entries of voters from voter list of three Assembly Constituencies of the district. Ban on transfer of officers and staff engaged with Electoral roll revision, preparation of error free electoral roll, rationalisation of Polling station if any, and time schedule for receiving claims and objections, among other issues were also openly discussed in the meeting. The meeting further resolved to follow the qualifying dates strictly in summary revision activities. Fresh enrolment should be done between 18-19 age group, while receiving claim and objection surrender certificate should be must, during disposal of claims and objection additional officers will be deputed by DEO at Itanagar and Naharlagun, EL credit of BLOs matter will be considered on priority, the meeting decided.

West Kameng adds another feather in e-governance in the district
BOMDILA, Sept 24: Adding one more feather under e-Governance initiative and to go paperless in office activities, the West Kameng district under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sonal Swaroop has launched Leave Management System on Saturday. The system developed by Er. P K Thungon, DIO, National Informatics Center, Bomdila has the facilities for the officer and officials to apply for casual and other leaves.
An officer or official can apply for all types of leaves. The controlling officer can view all the leave details and grant leave using the system, so that there is no mismanagement of leave. This will not only ponder faster leave process but also save paper and time spent in processing the leave of an employee.
As informed by Er. P K Thungon, DIO, the software will be presently operational only in Network established by NIC, Bomdila. The system is developed using PHP and MySql as backend database which is safe from outside network. The controlling officer may sanction or not sanction leave using this system. An employee need not apply leave using normal procedure and hence this will have lots of time and paper spent on it, he said. DIPRO
